Span Alaska’s Anchorage Service Center – Freight Distribution and Cross Dock Facility

RSA was the mechanical and electrical design firm for this 54,625 square foot distribution facility. This is the principal hub for commercial goods shipped from the Lower 48s for delivery throughout the state. The building includes a 44,625 SF cross dock warehouse and 9,718 SF of 2-story office space. The warehouse space includes an 88-door cross dock terminal and a four-bay vehicle maintenance shop. Mechanical design systems include plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. All vehicle ramps and pedestrian sidewalks include a snowmelt system. The ventilation system includes a variable air volume system for the office area, make-up air, and a vehicle exhaust system for the maintenance shop. Other features include 80/20 direct fired make-up air units for the cross-dock area. The 80/20 units provide heating, pressurization, and ventilation for propane forklifts. Electrical design includes new power distribution, lighting, and telecommunications. Exterior lighting is limited to the exterior trailer storage and dock bay. Power distribution includes outlets for refrigerated trucks.
